The Key Tenets
Three tenets underlie the leader’s ability to effectively facilitate a successful process.
Tenet One: Understand and Respect Process
This tenet is twofold: not only must leaders understand basic processes that are operative in particular situations, but they must also respect the processes, allowing them to unfold in their own natural time frames. Both elements of this tenet are important. First, it is necessary to recognize the process and demonstrate knowledge of it through the application of logical, methodical, or other appropriate steps. A major cause of an ineffective process is skipping or eliminating an important step, as this chapter will illustrate.
