Value stream mapping

Introduction

Many of your business managers will probably be stunned when they are shown the initial results of the value stream mapping of your system(s). Mapping pre-Lean processes generally reveals that the actual work performed that your customers are willing to pay for is minuscule in comparison with the overall lead time to deliver your product or service. Regularly we perform more than 95% of work in our processes that adds no value to the end user.
