The principal thing that should be remembered here is that the ohmic resis-
tance or voltage loss increases with the thickness of the electrolyte and the
thickness or the length of the electronic conductor and decreases with higher
ionic and electronic conductivities. Since the ionic conductivity is order of
magnitudes lower than the electronic conductivity, reducing the ohmic loss
entails reducing the thickness of electrolyte membrane or developing elec-
trolyte materials with higher ionic conductivity.
