The End of Compliance

If instructional designers and learning professionals can take a more proactive, assertive role in shaping behavioral compliance training—as this book has outlined—our learners will soon enjoy a period of dramatic improvement in the quality and usefulness of their required compliance training. Following that period, if we reach our full potential, compliance training will cease to exist.

It may seem strange to write a book that aims to make itself obsolete, but in a perfect world, that’s exactly what it will become. Like a home remedy guide for polio, or a user manual for a steam engine, this book only hopes to be a useful tool for its time and place. If it’s useful enough, that time should soon pass.
