Many colorants, whether natural or synthetic, possess some inherent functions in addition to their colors. These properties can be utilized in textile dyeing processes to bring the particular functions to textiles. In other words, dyeing textiles with these colorants can combine dyeing and functional finishing, a greener process than current separated wet treatments in terms of reduced generation of waste water and consumption of energy.
