So far we have encountered several thermodynamic properties: molar volume, internal energy, enthalpy, entropy, heat capacities. They are all state functions, meaning that they are fixed once the state is fixed. An immediate consequence of practical importance is that thermodynamic properties can be tabulated once and for all. Tabulations have their limitations, however.
