Low-stress grinding (LSG) utilizes special combinations of grinding param-
eters that reduce the heat shock and plastic deformation inherent in all
grinding operations (lower infeed and softer grinding wheels). Under these
conditions, excellent dimensional control, ne surface nish, a minimum of
residual stress, and low workpiece distortion are achieved. LSG was found
suitable when low distortion, absence of cracks, ne nish, and high fatigue
strength are needed (Bellow, 1978).
