Effect of concentration: Increasing the abrasive concentration in the mix-
ture (constant grain size and unit pressure) results in an increase in the
number of grains per unit area but reduces the pressure excreted on a
grain, which reduces the volume cut by the grain. An optimum concentra-
tion exists where the sum of volumes cut by the working grains reaches its
maximum as shown in Figure 9.17. At higher concentration, a reduction of
linear material removal rate occurs because the volume cut by the particu-
lar grains diminishes quicker than the number of working grains’ increase.
