The depth of penetration depends on the beam diameter, the power den-
sity, and the accelerating voltage. Moreover, the depth of eroded material per
pulse depends on the density of the workpiece material as well as the beam
diameter. Practically, the number of pulses that produce a given hole depth
is usually found to decrease with increase in the acceleration voltage and the
decrease of the depth of hole, as shown in Figure 12.27.
For a xed set of process conditions, the number of pulses required increases
