Simulation of water flow using Graphical Processing Units (GPUs)

ABSTRACT: In this paper we describe a method to simulate water flow over varying bottom topography. As
physical model we use shallow water equations, that represent fluid flow in terms of its velocity and height. We
explain how to implement a numerical scheme of solution using parallel computations on graphical processing
units with the help of graphics API OpenGL and NVIDIA CUDA technology and compare the obtained results
with implementation on a central processor.
