A supply chain is a system of organizations, processes, and stakeholders that work together to get a product from its conception through to its consumer.

Within procurement, managing supply chains comprise of working with suppliers to ensure that the product or service is sourced and delivered in an ethical and sustainable manner.

Supply chains maybe simple or complex depending on the product or service for which they have been created. Some supply chains have just one supplier before the buying organization, whereas others may have several.
