10 A Fuzzy Logic Rule-Based System for Personnel Detection

Paul Sayka Los Alamos National Laboratory

An approach which is based on fuzzy logic for a personnel detection system in a special facility is proposed. The system is composed of an array of various electrical sensors which are used to detect if a human being is present in a particular area. In this chapter, a fuzzy rule-based system is compared with a crisp rule-based system for a hypothetical model system. With the implementation of fuzzy logic, a system that is difficult to implement in traditional techniques becomes more feasible.
