Activities and ideas for social and cultural integration

Introduction

This chapter has a selection of fun ideas and activities that use repetitive language, easy to follow instructions and team work. They are useful for helping EAL pupils socialise and integrate with their peers, which can be difficult at times.

Many of the activities and ideas are song-based because they use repetitive language and kinaesthetic and musical intelligences, which are some of the most suitable ways to support EAL pupils in school (see Chapter 1). The songs can be adapted to suit the needs of your class and Key Stage.
