Readers may have already surmised that the complete opposite of the scenario painted in the prologue is true. Gender inequality means women are, and always have been, at a disadvantage to men. This inequality pervades almost everything in our society. Men have always had and continue to have an advantage over women with regards to economic participation and opportunity in every single measure available and in every country in the world. These advantages extend to the workplace where women are given far fewer opportunities to succeed because of their gender, and to the household where women adopt three-quarters of childcare duties and undertake the vast majority of domestic chores. ...
