For those interested in some of the more technical material in the book, we include in this appendix a short synopsis of key matrix algebra results that may prove useful when working through some of the theory. By no means is this meant to be a comprehensive treatment of matrix algebra. Rather it is hoped that readers with a basic working knowledge of matrix algebra will find this material to be a helpful reminder. For a more thorough treatment of this subject matter, the reader is referred to texts by Rao (1973), Searle, Casella and McCulloch (1992) and Harville (1997) as well as articles by Neudecker (1969), Henderson and Searle (1979) and Magnus and Neudecker (1979).
