These tables give the approximate equivalent electrical energy, in kW·h, for various primary sources of energy. We state the type of power plant in use; typical utilization efficiencies were assumed to arrive at the equivalent electricity. Actual plants may differ from these approximate values by ±15%. For geothermal binary plants, the brine outlet temperature is very important and will strongly affect the output.
US customary units.

|1000 ft3 natural gas||100||Simple cycle gas turbine|
|1000 ft3 natural gas||160||Combined steam and gas turbine|
|1 barrel fuel oil||720||Double-reheat, regenerative Rankine cycle|
