Choosing a stockbroker

There are many ways of finding a stockbroker. The London Stock Exchange (www.londonstockexchange.com) publishes a complete list of its members. The Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers (APCIMS) provides lots of information on their website www.apcims.co.uk (or telephone 020 7448 7100), including stockbrokers’ contact names, addresses, telephone numbers and an outline of the kinds of services offered. Of course, you can find many stockbrokers listed in the Yellow Pages.

Investors are regularly surveyed for their opinions on broker performance and costs in investment magazines such as Investors Chronicle. Investors also find brokers through personal recommendation.
