In this chapter, you acquired basic knowledge of how Microsoft performs server virtualization with Hyper-V. You saw how to perform an initial setup and configuration of a Hyper-V host, sufficient to create a simple virtual machine running on that host. This allowed us to create a virtual DC that then gave us a quick way to manage our virtualization hosts and other VMs joined to that domain. This is very important because it's so simple to create lots of VMs, and we can only manage them at scale by managing them from one place rather than connecting to each in turn to check their health and configuration.
