Operating vDisks

vDisks are nothing but virtual hard disks for a target system; such disks are generally available in Provisioning Server or in storage clusters. The vDisk file type is VHD; its associated properties files will end up with the extension.pvp and a chain of differencing disks with the extension .avhd.

Creating vDisks

Our next step is to explore the process of creating a vDisk image file. During the creation of a vDisk, the basic considerations are as follows:

  • Check that there is enough storage space either on the Provisioning Server or in shared storage.
  • Ensure disks are formatted either using FAT or NTFS for Windows OS to recognize.
