While a root user exists with any default Debian or Ubuntu installation, the question arises as to how to log in as the root user. The following are the two options:
sudoand don't allow the root user to log in
Security-wise, the first option is safer. Both options will be briefly covered here. It is up to the reader to decide which option is better suited and how important the security aspect of it all is.
