Diversity refers to the presence of a variety of different characteristics, attributes, backgrounds and perspectives within a business or community. These differences can include race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, physical abilities, cultural backgrounds and education.

Diversity is more than just a buzzword. For me, diversity is about having people in your team that think differently.

Embracing diversity means recognising and valuing the uniqueness of each individual, being respectful and appreciating their differences. Diversity is not just a matter of representation but also an acknowledgment of the different viewpoints and experiences that people bring.

If you have experienced different cultures in your business, you may have witnessed the magic that occurs when people with diverse backgrounds work on certain initiatives and projects. It is essential for business leaders and owners to take action to incorporate diversity into their businesses if they want to fully appreciate and experience this magic.

Inclusivity is ensuring that all people, regardless of their backgrounds, characteristics, abilities or circumstances, are provided with equal opportunities, access and treatment. It is the principle where everyone feels welcome, respected and able to fully participate.
