Digital humanities is an emerging interdisciplinary field concerned with applications of computational methods to the subjects of the humanities disciplines, including literature, history, philosophy, and art. It is only recently that digital humanities scholars have discovered Geographic Information System (GIS). This is mainly because the concept of space and places—despite its clear influence on the human condition—has not been a predominant mode of representation and inquiry among humanities scholars.
