7. Germany
Germany is one of the most mature online markets in Europe. According to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), nearly 80 percent of the 82.2 million people living in Germany were Internet users in March 2011. That is just over 65 million, up from 24 million in the year 2000. Altogether, Germany is the largest economy in Europe and the fourth largest in the world after the United States, Japan, and China. Germans online made up the largest group, nearly 20 percent, of all EU population online, more than the United Kingdom and France.
