What goes in a trading plan

YOUR TRADING PLAN is your personal manual. It is basically the set of rules by which you will trade. You must make a good plan and stick to it. If it’s not working, adjust it, but don’t adjust it until you’ve given it long enough for you to get some meaningful results. A trading plan includes:

  • Setting your budget
  • Choosing your chart package
  • Selecting the markets/vehicles you will trade
  • Deciding how much you will risk on each trade
  • Setting your profit targets and stop losses

Setting your budget and choosing a chart package were covered in Chapter 10. I will go on to look at the other points below.
