Finding the top of the gold market

WHILE NEVER MOVING with anything like the volatility of the crude oil market, gold is a commodity that also experienced a bullish market in the latter part of the last decade. The trend was, in part, driven by the financial crisis. People buy gold to protect their assets in times of financial dislocation.

When the economy becomes unstable, people pull their money out of risk appetite markets such as stocks and move it into safe markets like bonds, gold and the US dollar. Investors get smaller returns but have the reassurance that their money is safe. Indeed, you can’t really get safer than the bond market, as bonds are guaranteed by their respective governments.
