I’VE SEEN TEAMS play some of their best football when they are in danger of being relegated. I’ve also seen teams play their worst. This is because when you’re in the relegation zone you have two choices: either you believe you can still get out of the relegation zone and you focus all your efforts on playing your best, or you give up before the season’s over and accept defeat.

How do those teams who get out of the relegation zone do it? By playing like they are not going down. By playing as if they are at the top of the league and believing they are going to be staying there for a long time. By playing as if they expect to win.
