If you left sports and team games behind with teenage crushes, acne and underage drinking, then perhaps you’re missing out.
I hated games at school and still have nightmares about muddy fields, skinned knees and sadistic gym teachers. Above all I could have been doing other more pleasurable things instead like watching telly and dreaming about the opposite sex.
There was a problem with the way sports were taught at my school. Those that were any good at it were groomed and encouraged, possibly to the point where they became heartily sick of sport.
