Sadly, at time of writing, the technology is only in beta form, but from what I can gather, ‘click to play’ video advertising is coming…and it has so many possibilities. Video Advertising (currently only available through Google’s Content Network) is going to make AdWords truly Web 2.0—that is, the displaying of information, on demand, in a truly multimedia way. AdWords will still be displayed as text only ads, but there will be an option (and it will very much be opt-in to keep within the principles of Google’s ‘less is more’ business ethic) to see video ads alongside, or instead of, the text ad.
