2. The Opportunity of Google+

On the Google earnings call in July 2011, Larry Page reported that 20 million people were using Google+ within the first few weeks. This was Google’s version of a “limited” field trial, by the way. When I talk about this statistic, people tend to come back and say, “Yeah, but Google already had a huge user base in its other products, and you can’t compare it to Facebook, which started off as a service for colleges only, or Twitter, which was a startup.” That’s not what I’m talking about.
