Librarians at the New York Law School’s Mendik Library turned a conference tip about a new Google service into an award-winning collection of search engines. DRAGNET is a Google Custom Search Engine that makes a simultaneous search of 100 recommended free legal websites and brings the results back in less than a second. This chapter shows how the engine is constructed, and how tabbed searching can eliminate a restriction on total hits. It also highlights the work of other librarians in creating search engines to provide focused access to quality websites in areas such as social science, health science and book reviews.
