Google Maps and Google Earth


This chapter demonstrates the ways that free services such as Google Maps and Google Earth can be used by libraries to highlight their services. It includes a report on how a library in Connecticut added information about its Irish history collections to be viewed in Google Earth. Specific instructions are given for creating this kind of information using KML files, and a sample file that can be adapted to other purposes is supplied.
