Solution 7. Simple Windows
Out of the box, GWT provides a very useful widget that’s almost unheard of in other Java-based web application frameworks: a pop-up panel.
Pop-up panels, or pop-ups for short, afford a more interactive experience than your typical, run-of-the-mill web application. For example, in Solution 10, you can see how to use a pop-up in a Rolodex application to change contact information without loading a new screen to edit that information; instead, we let users edit contact information in a pop-up.
But GWT’s pop-up panel is very basic. Pop-ups have no border, and their background color, by default, is the same color as the browser, so unadorned pop-ups are rather bland. Figure 7.1 shows a pop-up from our Rolodex application ...
