Networks involving public, private, and nonprofit organizations are becoming a familiar form of collaboration through which public managers can more effectively address public policy issues. A logical progression in the evolution of the forms of collaboration, networks are more inclusive and diversified than PPPs and other cross-sector partnerships. They extend a long-standing approach to collaboration—informal government cooperation with private and nonprofit organizations—to more formalized multisector arrangements.
