Chapter 6. THE DNA INNOVATION SYSTEM
Most companies don't appreciate the systemic nature of getting breakthrough innovation (BI) accomplished. Up to this point, we've focused on the building blocks that are necessary for a breakthrough innovation capability. Discovery, incubation, and acceleration (DNA) are surely necessary if a company hopes to get successful breakthroughs on the basis of anything other than chance, but they are not sufficient in and of themselves. The real payoff comes when they are managed as a system.
