Chapter 8. GETTING STARTED Initiating and Maturing an Innovation Management System
You may be asking yourself, "Where do we start?" It might seem, at this point in the book, like a complex, burdensome, and expensive set of tasks. After all, we've got three major building blocks, each with its own structures, processes, governance mechanisms, funding models, and on and on. Then you have to knit it all together at the DNA system level and add that invaluable orchestrator to work all of the interfaces. You might feel that your company couldn't possibly make such an enormous commitment, and even if you decided not to undertake the whole system at the outset, the question still is, "Where do we begin?"
