Anyone involved in creating good visuals for a motion picture project, whether it is something for television, movies, or the Internet, should have a solid understanding of lighting and how to best utilize it for their shooting purposes. One can spend a lifetime mastering the science behind light and color and also the nuances behind manipulating it correctly for use on film sets, but everybody starts somewhere in that learning process so you should not delay in your own training.
