Representation of Information Granules
Any numeric entity or information granule can be represented (described) by a finite family of information granules. We emphasize the nature of the representation in terms of processes of granulation and degranulation. It becomes interesting to look at how such a description can be realized and which of its parameters may impact the quality of the resulting representation. We also show that the representation of this form is inherently associated with the emergence of higher-type information granules. Some linkages with the construction of vector quantization and analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion are investigated.
