graphic designer, author, and teacher who
gained worldwide recognition during the
post–World War II era for his corporate identity
programs for international companies such as
Braun (1954) and Lufthansa (1960). He was
also well known for designing the sans-serif
typeface Traffic (1974), which was used in the
City of Munich and Munich Airport public trans-
