In 1987, Vignelli Associates (est. 1971) redefined
the construction barricade for 712 Fifth Avenue,
a new skyscraper designed by architects Kohn
Pedersen Fox Associates (est. 1976) under
construction in New York City, as “a delightful
visual diversion for passerbys” by creating a
76-foot- (23.2 m) high elevation blueprint of the
two historic building facades at the base of the
new building and concealed by the barricade
while under restoration.
