Otto Wagner (1841–1918) was an Austrian
architect and urban planner who played a
significant role in changing the appearance of
Vienna in the late 1800s and early 1900s, as
well as shaping the future of twentieth-century
design and architecture.
He was born in the Penzing district of
Vienna, Austria, in 1841, and as a young man
studied architecture at the Polytechnikum and
