Aleksandr Rodchenko (1891–1956), one of the
most prolific Russian avant-garde artists of
the twentieth century, was born in St. Peters-
burg, Russia, and educated in Kazan, where
he attended its School of Art from 1910 until
1914. Following his graduation, he moved to
Moscow to study sculpture and architecture at
the Stroganov Institute of Applied Arts, where
