Miami Beach, Florida, is home to one of the
world’s largest collections of art deco–styled
buildings dating from the 1920s to the 1940s.
This enclave of eclectic art deco, Streamline
Moderne (see page 97), and Nautical Moderne
architectural landmarks, known as the Miami
Art Deco District, is located along thirty blocks
of South Beach; it is composed of more than
900 apartment buildings, residences, and hotels
and is traditionally known as tropical deco.
