advertising executive, lighting designer, and a
pioneer in sign design and outdoor advertising.
From the early 1940s to the 1960s, he literally
changed the face of Times Square on a regular
basis with new and exciting sign technologies.
After financing his own education at the
University of Florida by purchasing the exclu-
sive right to sell advertising for the university’s
