Considered to be the first modernist skyscraper
and one of the most important buildings built
in the United States during the early part of the
twentieth century, the Philadelphia Savings
Fund Society Building, or PSFS Building, is
located in Philadelphia. This landmark 36-story,
491-foot (150 m) tower is at the corner of 12th
and Market Streets and was designed by archi-
tects William Lescaze (1896–1969) and George
Howe (1886–1995) in 1932.
