TYPOGRAPHIC STYLINGS
GRAPHIC ELEMENTS
Mixing two or more typefaces adds visual
texture to typography and helps distinguish
among hierarchic components. These com-
binations are rooted strictly in the visual
aspects of type styles
exhibiting both cor-
responding and contrasting relationships in
structure, style, and rhythm. Combinations
limited to a single family segue into those
presenting more varied stylistic contrast.
The members of each set are shown in given
proportion and case relationships, ready to use
as is for heads, decks, subheadings, and text—
but feel free, as often happens in the recipes,
to simply use the mix of the families’ styles for
any particular editorial element as needed.
