Homogeneous Reactors
As mentioned in the previous chapter, chemical reactors are broadly classied as homoge-
neous (single phase) reactors and heterogeneous (multiphase) reactors. This chapter out-
lines various methods for design of homogeneous reactors. Design of ideal, non-ideal and
non-isothermal reactors are discussed in detail.
3.1 Homogeneous Ideal Reactors
Homogeneous reactors are simple holding vessels that are used for carrying out homoge-
neous gas-phase or liquid-phase reactions (Section 2.2.1). Based on the shape of the reac-
