Energy is often used to describe a broad range of activities, but in this context, as a green waste, it specifically refers to the consumption of electricity and fuels (such as natural gas) to power electrical and mechanical devices (such as electronics, heating devices, and machinery, as well as building items like lighting and HVAC systems). Other forms of energy, such as that used for transportation, are covered under the other six wastes discussed in Chapters 4 through 9.
