HOW TO TRANSPLANT

Follow these techniques when transplanting seedlings or young plants to a temporary or permanent position, especially if you are planning on growing as much as possible in your outdoor space.

Transplanting is simple as long as you remember to be gentle with seedlings and young plants and keep them watered. There are three key stages:

  • Pricking out means transferring small seedlings, such as lettuce, from seed trays into individual pots to develop further before transplanting them outside.
  • Transplanting is moving seedlings with a healthy rootball held together by compost, such as green beans, into their final position outside.
