The wealth of contributed LATEX programming was probably never anticipated by Leslie Lamport when he released LATEX. It is now a fact of life, and indeed one of the great strengths of the system. The LATEX Team not only accommodates such ‘foreign’ extensions, it actually supports and encourages them, as witnessed by the copious presentations of such packages in The LATEX Companion (Mittelbach et al., 2004) as well as in this book.
