Gesture Recognition
Vision-based gesture recognition is one of the most powerful techniques available for human-computer interaction. In this chapter, we will explore how a combination of the image processing methods discussed in Chapter 4 can be used to turn any surface into a multitouch sensor. We will also look at how some widely used gestures such as pinch-to-zoom can be extracted from the data.
What Is a Gesture?
While this question may seem overly simple at first glance, it's not. Most people will probably think of a gesture as something like a wave of the hand, used in conversation.
